Nelson Tasman Healthier Homes Project is Awesome.

Press release: CommunityAction for People and Planet 14 August 2006

CommunityAction for People and Planet congratulate the Nelson Tasman Housing Trust for the great work they've done to ensure that low income people in Nelson and Tasman won't be forced to freeze next winter.

“Due to low incomes and the fact that many residents of older homes are tenants, many people are forced to freeze during winter. Not any more, thanks to this great project. A few reasonably straightforward upgrades to household insulation and energy efficiency will improve household health and cut power bills significantly.” Said CommunityAction Coordinator Duncan Eddy

“The initial investment in this program is minimal compared to the resulting benefits. We'll have warmer homes, happier people, lower electricity usage, and less people in hospital in later life with circulatory and respitory complaints due to living in cold, damp houses.”

“I encourage all people living in pre 1977 houses to take advantage of this awesome offer.” Mr Eddy concluded.
