Environmentalists
from Motueka's CommunityAction
Group took to the streets yesterday
to mark World Water Day.
Spokesperson, Duncan Eddy, says the group wants to highlight stormwater pollutants that end up in our waterways and during the day handed out free portable ashtrays.
He says cigarette butts are the worst kind of waterway pollutant as they contain four thousand chemicals which are toxic to marine life. World Water Day is the beginning of a United Nations lead initiative, Water For Life.
