Save Our Community Board

The Tasman District Council has ingnored public consultation and voted to recommend to the Local Government Commission that the Motueka and Golden Bay Community Boards are disestablished.

CommunityAction shares the view of the vast majority of submitters to the TDC's representation review that Community Boards should be retained. We'd like to see more Community Boards established and given real power, budgets and responsiblities to devolve local decisionmaking back to community level.

For now, the important thing is not to lose the Community Boards that we've already got. We're filing an appeal to the Local Government Commision, asking them to overturn this decision by Council, and encourage other concerned individuals and groups to do the same.
