Glass recycling

Our group is campaigning for a local council-driven solution to glass recycling problems in the form of a return to bottle deposits and bottle reuse.

We believe the main problem faced by Waimate's Whitehorse Recyclers in managing its growing glass stockpile is not RMA red tape, but the fact that glass recycling in New Zealand is no longer viable.

Local councils and ratepayers are bearing the cost of this problem, and bottle deposits offer a commonsense solution.
