Large
industry in New Zealand is being
urged to look to other countries
operating successful bottle deposit
and reuse programmes before deciding
they can't recycle glass. Motueka
based Community Action for People
and Planet is upset at reported
comments from two industry leaders
that glass bottle recycling isn't
economically sustainable. Spokesman
Duncan Eddy says Europe offers
numerous examples, while Canada's
beer industry prefers refillable
bottles as they're a much less
expensive packaging option.
